2014 Kurodahan Press Translation Prize announcement

|

The winner of the 2014 Kurodahan Press Translation Prize is Iain Arthy, a Canadian now living in Tokyo.

Arthy-san cleverly handled the several difficulties of the test piece and turned in a very satisfying read. Interestingly enough, the jurors this time had wildly different opinions about different submissions, which reflects their personal opinions but also points up the diverse way this story could be handled. As always, there was no Perfect Answer. There were 68 submissions, with a maximum possible score of 90 points. Arthy-san received 69.5 points. The complete package, including test piece, instructions, and translations of people who gave us permission to post them, is now available for download.

See the Prize page for more information.
