Nora Stevens Heath, who translated two stories for our well-received Lairs of the Hidden Gods series, and I wrote an article entitled "How to Hire a Translator" for the June 2008 issue of the PMA Independent, the newsletter of the Independent Book Publishers Association of America. Without going into all the details, it outlines some of the potential problems a monolingual buyer may run into trying to find a translator... we wrote the article in an effort to help people avoid this type of problem, and improve the quality of translations that make it into print.
